清明节祭祖有多种形式，以下是其中一些：
扫墓当天，子孙们先将先人的坟墓及周围的杂草修整和清理，然后供上食物、鲜花等。扫墓是清明节最早的一种习俗，主要是为了纪念先人，表现出对他们的关心和尊重。
清明节当天有些人家也在家里拜祭祖先。
由于火葬越来越 普遍，前往骨灰置置所拜祭先人将逐渐取代上坟的习俗。
新加坡华人也在庙字里为死者立神主牌，庙宇因此也成了清明祭祖的地方。
在新加坡这样一个弹丸小国，火葬比土葬更常见。因此在清明期间，预计会有大量的人潮前往各个骨灰安置所祭拜祖先。清明将至，不妨提前计划，避开坟场或寺庙的人龙和车龙。按照惯例，4月5日、7日以及3月18日至4月16日的周末为祭扫高峰日。
